MPS has been helping Catholic missionaries source and secure project funding for over 40 years.

2DSC00213 800In 1974, Mission Project Service was founded in New York City by Maryknoll missionary George Cotter, MM.  Father Cotter believed that connecting missionaries in the “Third World” with individuals and agencies in the “First World” would help missionaries fund their projects.

The first MPS Funding Guide was published in 1982 in English, with subsequent editions in Spanish and French.  Under Cotter updated versions of the MPS Funding Guide were periodically offered and MPS also began providing formal grant research and writing workshops to missionaries in their local setting.   Cotter’s original co-founder Fr. Pierre Aubin, MSC moved “MPS” to upstate New York in 1995.  In 2005 MPS was taken over by Bro. Marcel Sylvestre, FIC and the Brothers of Christian Instruction at Walsh University.

During the past decade, the MPS Funding Guide has been sold and distributed in over 150 countries and workshops have been provided to missionary brothers and sisters and other religious on every continent.
